Mark Jones

Chairman of MRMU Co-op

Mark Jones is the Chairman of MRMU Co-op the UK’s largest Co-op convenience store franchisee.

 

He has had a long career in the hospitality and leisure industry and held many senior positions. 

 

Mark has been CEO of Pizza Hut UK (1999-2002 ) where he led the introduction of franchising in the UK for the first time for the brand and grew the store count to over 500.

 

After Pizza Hut he was CEO of the pub group Yates and led a management buyout and eventually a successful exit of the business. 

 

Mark spent over 7 years of his career at the Rank Group as MD of their casino brand Grosvenor and Mecca bingo business.

 

Mark then ran, as CEO , a soccer 5-a-side business with sites in the UK and Los Angeles which formed a joint venture with owners of Manchester City.

 

Mark moved to Carluccio’s Restaurants where he led a financial restructuring and sale to Boparan Restaurants. 

 

Most recently he has been a consultant to leisure companies in the UK.

 

After a B.Sc. in Zoology from Westfield College, London University Mark studied for M.Sc. from UCL in Vertebrate Palaeontology.

 

He lives in Ascot with his wife, Jolie and four children.
